Improving water infrastructure and wildlife food sources is critical to safeguarding habitat.

Friends plan to raise over $750,000 in the next 5 years for this key refuge program.  Through this program, we will safeguard habitat for sandhill cranes and other wildlife for future generations.

This programs aims to:

  • Enhance the refuge’s ability to mimic natural river cycles through restoration and upgrade of water control infrastructure and forage production capacity.
  • Use improved modern water control equipment and technology and water system upgrades to stabilize eco-systems while maximizing forage capacities with available water resources.
  • Upgrade critical water control systems to provide improved drought management options.
