About the artis- Made by Husband and wife team Raylan and Patty Edaakie from the Zuni pueblo. The Edaakie’s were high school sweet hearts. Patty, at age 10, was helping her mother Geneva Zunie in the jewelry studio. She would watch mom expertly create the famed sunface design in necklaces. At age 13 she was on her own making pendants. Raylan grew up watching mom and dad, Anthony and Rita Edaakie make tradtional Zuni pueblo jewelry designs such as the knife wing man and the rainbow man. Having begun his working career in the construction trade after high school, Raylan soon realized that there was a conflict of interest. He was unable to get time off to participate in the traditional ceremonies which are part of daily life on the Zuni Pueblo.
He joined Patty in the jewelry studio and together they have designed unique and distinctive wearable art. Their corn maiden necklaces are one of their trademark pieces along with the sunface design which is usually incorporated into every piece.
