Malcolmn Ramsey

Malcolmn was elected to the board in 2025 and serves on the Advocacy Committee.  He has a lifelong connection to the Rio Grande Valley, extensive business leadership experience, and a deep passion for wildlife conservation.  Born in Socorro, Malcolmn has spent a lifetime appreciating the natural beauty of this region.  Though he moved to Alamogordo as a child, he returned here in 1980 to help open the new McDonald’s Restaurant, and he has remained deeply engaged in the community ever since.

For over fifty years, he has explored the Rio Grande Valley, first as a waterfowl hunter and then as a wildlife photographer.  In those years, he gained a long-term perspective on shifting avian migration patterns, variations in water levels, changes in waterfowl populations, and the adaptation of local agriculture to water availability challenges. Malcolmn has extensive leadership experience – he developed expertise in business management, financial oversight, and strategic leadership in his fifty years with McDonald’s, growing from an entry level employee to eventually become an owner/operator.

He was Treasurer for the regional McDonald’s Association and President of New Mexico’s McDonald’s Advertising Cooperative. His experiences equipped him with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups, manage complex budgets, and navigate organizational challenges. For the past two years, Malcolmn has served as a very active member of Friends of Bosque del Apache Events Committee and has shared ideas for future opportunities, especially during our Festival of the Cranes.
