Sarah Hendrickson
Sarah was elected to the board in 2026. Living twenty miles south of the refuge, Sarah has developed a deep personal connection to Bosque del Apache. Over the years, what began as frequent visits has grown into a commitment to understanding and supporting the refuge’s ecological, educational and community mission. She says, “Bosque del Apache NWR is not only one of the best birding spots in the country, but it is also at the heart of our local community identity and economy; I feel compelled to ensure its protection and vibrancy.”
Sarah’s professional background in hydrology, water resources science, research and development, and proposal writing positions her well to contribute to the Board’s work. She is committed to contributing thoughtful leadership, strong advocacy and practical skills to help ensure that Bosque del Apache remains a “refuge for all seasons” for local and distant visitors, for the wildlife that call it home and for future generations.
